Most freight companies treat their customers as if they are just an account number, but not Diversified Transportation. At a large machinery manufacturer we rely heavily on Diversified because you provide extraordinary personal service that meets our requirements.

For example, we recently had a shipment that was late, plus the project was plagued with cost overruns. I called Jerry Rocha, our account representative, and told him of our predicament. Jerry responded by saying, ” Give me a few minutes and I’ll see what I can do.” Fifteen minutes later he called back with the good news that he could pickup the 800lb. skid on Friday and have it at the customer on Monday and the price was comparable to a ground freight price.

There is an old saying that states, “ All good things must come to an end.” In the case of a large scale manufacturer of custom made items it is a very true statement. At least so far as the South CA location is concerned.

I want to take time to say to Marc, Robby & everyone else at Diversified that it has been a “Great Ride”. The ride for me is, unfortunately, coming to an end. I will officially be retired by June 18th.

Marc & Robby, my hat goes off to you two for being able to assemble and maintain a great staff. It was the DTS people’s attitude combined with the great customer service that made it a pleasure to do business with you over the years. I have passed all of this along to my boss (who, it appears is making the move to Illinois) and the other new staff at our company. During our first 6 months in partnership with DTS. our costs have been reduced and our services have been improved as follows:

  • LTL transportation costs are down 12% – 17%
  • TL transportation costs are down 15% – 20%
  • Expedited transportation costs are down 18% – 50%
  • We have established a sound show-freight process ensuring our freight moves to and from each show location on time and in a cost efficient manner.
  • Our claims have been reduced and a process is in place to file claims accurately and timely.
  • DTS traces any shortages and handles all damage reporting with the carriers. This frees up the time of our traffic department and ensures that potential claims are handled properly and consistently.
  • We have established an inbound routing program for all of our suppliers resulting our receiving products quickly at a reduced transportation cost.
  • DTS set up a rate quote program for use by our customer service group which provides accurate rates and has helped convert our transportation costs into a profit center.
  • DTS developed a program which allows sales representatives to provide their customers on-site quotes while at exhibition shows and while at the customer location. This has resulted in increased sales and ensures accurate quotes in covering our transportation costs.
  • We established a return program which provides improved inventory control and assures our pricing is applied to every return shipment.
  • DTS developed a routing guide which allows us to ensure we are using the most cost efficient transportation method while meeting our required service time needs.

Although this list is not conclusive and new opportunities are being identified and addressed on an ongoing basis, I believe this partial list illustrates the positive impact our partnership with Diversified Transportation Services has afforded us.
